I am few months away to finish my PhD in Aquaculture at University of Stirling..
I have been working with replacement of unilateral eyestalk ablation in shrimp (L. vannamei) commercial hatcheries due to welfare and health issues associated to the method. In addition I have been evaluating the impact of replacement in all production process.
I am Marine biologist but my experience with Aquaculture started 9 years ago. I have been 5 years in shrimp industry where I get involved with reproduction, larviculutre, nursery and grow-out stages of shrimp. I do have further experience on tilapia culture, water quality management, research techniques and teaching.
I would love to continue working in academia and closely to shrimp industry. However, I love challenges and would not mind to work in other sector associated to shrimp farming (i.e. Feed, certifiers and auditors companies, FAO....).
I enjoy working in group, travel, new challenges, coordinate, speak in public... I speak fluently Portuguese, English and Spanish.
